Java Talk November 7th, 2024

Thank you Cicero Fire Department for hosting our November Java Talk. It was wonderful to hear from Fire Chief, Jon Barrett about the history of Cicero Fire Department starting in 1883, with many changes and growth along the way. We can’t wait to see the finished Antique Room.

Over the years, the department started out with a one bay station to now operating out of two stations CFD has 65+ volunteer members. CFD has had to change and adapt as it has become harder to attract and keep volunteer firefighters. The work around volunteers schedules and provide training for all classifications/positions (Interior, Exterior, Drivers, EMS, Fire Police, etc).

Though COVID brought some delays, CFD Station 1 Community Room is nearly completed and is just amazing. CFD will host a Spaghetti Dinner to Benefit the Canteen on Saturday November 16th from 4pm – 6:30pm and sponsored by Cicero Fire Department & Town Supervisor Michael Aregano.

CFD will also host a Pankcake Breakfast in February & March. COVID also brought change to fundraising and CFD took up the challenge by keeping an active Facebook Page with a variety of Raffles.

If you’re looking for a space to hold a conference or need a conference room – Station 1 has the space. For birthday, graduation, retirement, holiday party, etc the Community Room is an ideal space – with lots of parking, full kitchen and plenty of tables & chairs.
